The Camp Stella Maris 100 Year Anniversary Book Is Coming This Summer!
In one of the earliest stories from Camp Stella Maris, a young seminarian named Gerald Lambert found himself unexpectedly without a summer job. What might have remained a small disappointment became something far greater. With twenty dollars, 12-boys and a rented cottage on Conesus Lake, seminarians Gerald Lambert and Eugene Hudson helped begin what would become Camp Stella Maris.
One hundred summers later, that small beginning has become a story shared across generations.
We are excited to share that the manuscript for the Camp Stella Maris 100 Year Anniversary book is now complete. After two years of gathering memories, photographs, archival materials, interviews, reflections, and stories from across the Camp Stella Maris community, the book has entered its final stages of design and typesetting.
Publication is now just ahead, and the finished book will be available for purchase this summer, both online and in CSM’s camp store.
This project would not have been possible without the extraordinary generosity of the CSM community. To everyone who shared a memory, sat for an interview, contributed a photograph, searched through old boxes, sent in a document, or helped preserve a piece of camp history — thank you. This book exists because so many people still carry Camp Stella Maris with them.
And while the book is nearing publication, the work of preserving CSM’s story continues. CSM alumni, families, former staff, campers, and friends of camp are encouraged to keep contributing using the contribute link on this website. Every item helps deepen the record of this remarkable place and ensures that future generations can better understand the people, traditions, faith, friendship, and love that have shaped Camp Stella Maris for nearly a century.
The first hundred summers are almost ready for the page. The next stories are already waiting to be found. 143.
